About

Why Indo-Pacific Insight?

Indo-Pacific Insight aims to add finer detail to the larger-scale ‘big picture’ developments in the region – the many crucially-important ‘small pictures’ that should inform and guide commentary, but which are too often absent from consideration, and statements.

To explain the project’s purpose a little further: commentary, briefings, and analysis often focus heavily on top-level developments, across emerging risks, tensions, possible influences, investments, and so on.

Broadly speaking, these commentaries opine along the lines that ‘country x should do this’ and ‘country y should not do that’.

This can, of course, be valuable: Where a small nation’s interests are constrained as a result of a larger nation’s actions, the small nation should be able to respond, and secure a rebalance.

But an awareness of more than the single-item issue is essential, surely: influence is not confined to single, standalone items, single, standalone issues, or single, standalone points of either pressure or concern.

Where a small nation has, for instance, received high-level investment from a larger nation, the ‘weight’ of this should be considered through a number of lenses: production, jobs, supply chains, economics at both local and national levels, geopolitical manoeuvring, and votes.

Indo-Pacific Insight aims to add awareness and consideration of these elements.

By providing snapshots across a wide range of subjects, and concerns, the project attempts to prompt wider thought, and more informed analysis.

Indo-Pacific 5×5 daily publications

The Daily publications were maintained into the first half of 2026, with production ceasing whilst work commenced on an entirely online version of the production environment used to create them.

As an outline, each Daily edition featured a brief excerpt from each of the 5 daily items featured in the email newsletter, with a QR code enabling readers to access each item, in full, by scanning the QR using their mobile device.

To illustrate the format, a handful of the daily editions are linked below.

The Daily publications have now been relegated to a less-frequent production schedule as work continues on the Indo-Pacific Insight Paper platform, which creates print-ready, digitally-linked, and QR-coded leaflets (in V1), enabling individuals to market their own, branded work in a brief, in-your-hand format which connects with digital profiles and beyond.

The Version 1 Beta of Paper can be trialled at http://paper.indopacificinsight.com/.
