India and Cambodia launch UPI-based digital payment connectivity

“The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has partnered with ACLEDA Bank Plc to launch Unified Payments Interface (UPI) acceptance in Cambodia, enabling Indian travelers and businesses to make digital payments using UPI-enabled applications at participating merchant locations across the country. The initiative marks another step in the international expansion of India’s digital payments ecosystem and strengthens financial connectivity between India and Southeast Asia…”

“Cambodia becomes one of the latest countries to adopt UPI acceptance, joining a growing network of international markets where the platform is available. Other countries with UPI-linked payment arrangements include the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, Mauritius and Qatar. The expansion reflects India’s efforts to internationalise its digital public infrastructure and facilitate faster, low-cost cross-border payments.”
