[UAE’s] Gulftainer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PTL Holding Company Limited to explore collaboration opportunities in operating major dry ports in the Lao PDR. The move supports Gulftainer’s global expansion strategy in logistics and inland port infrastructure.
The MoU aims to leverage Gulftainer’s expertise in port and logistics operations to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of PTL’s dry ports. It also supports Laos’ investment in Vung Ang Port and the development of logistics corridors and intermodal solutions to enhance regional and global trade connectivity.
The signing took place during the Sharjah–Laos Roundtable Meeting and marks a new phase of cooperation between the UAE and Laos in logistics and trade development.

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) discussed ways to strengthen economic relations and establish sustainable partnerships between the business communities of Sharjah and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR).
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the importance of exploring investment opportunities and establishing direct communication channels between the business communities of Sharjah and Laos to increase collaboration across sectors of mutual interest. Sharjah offers promising opportunities in industry, logistics, trade, tourism, education, and the new economy, while Laos boasts significant economic potential in agriculture, energy, mining, tourism, and manufacturing industries.
