Trade between Cambodia and Japan was $2.55 billion in 2025, rising 17 percent from 2024, which was a new record in recent years. Of this, exports rose 12 percent year-on-year to $1.75 billion while imports grew 27 percent to $956 million.
In 2024, Cambodia imported $752 million worth of products from Japan and earned $1.40 billion from exports, GDCE stated.
In 2025, Cambodia’s top trade partners consisted of China at number one with total trade of $19.73 billion, followed by ASEAN ($16.37 billion), the US ($13.15 billion), the EU ($5.87 billion) and Japan ($2.53 billion), the Ministry of Commerce said.
“Japanese foreign direct investment in Cambodia has remarkably increased and significantly contributed to Cambodia’s economic growth. More than 130 Japanese investment projects have been carried out in Cambodia since 1994, reaching roughly $2.5 billion,” CJBI said.
