Laos Commences Construction of USD 360 Million Hydropower Dam for Electricity Export to Vietnam
“On April 29, 2025, Laos officially marked the groundbreaking of the Nam Neun 1 hydropower dam, a significant project with a planned capacity of 124 megawatts. With an investment of approximately USD 360 million, this facility is set to primarily supply electricity to Vietnam.”
“Developed by Nam Neun 1 Hydropower Co., Ltd. and constructed by Vietnam Joint Stock Company 47 (CC47), the project is designed as a concrete dam measuring 553 meters in length and 138 meters in height. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.”
